Dear Diary #6 - Let's talk about boobs....

Haha, will the title make the men in my life click on this post first?

It's all you ladies that I want to talk to though!

Let's talk about boobs. And about just being a woman that is getting older.

What kind of messed up things does our body do as we get older? Man, I am only 46, and sometimes my body is just weird already, can't wait to hit my 60's, 70's and older, lol!

We've all seen on social media posts like the photo below. At least, I know I have. But I am healthy, and honestly mostly ignored them. I hadn't seen one for a long time. But...this is way more important information than I ever considered, and I HAVE the warning sign that I admittedly completely ignored.

In the photo below, you'll see the 'sunken nipple'. That is me. Why did I ignore this? How could I possibly not see it was a problem? I think women of all ages are good at ignoring their own things, while looking after everyone else's. I honestly did NOT think this was an issue. And I can't even tell you how long I have had this. Darrin and I have joked many times that my nipple is broken, but I've never had really great nipples anyway and I TOTALLY thought this was just one of those things that happened. It never once worried me. I know, so so so silly of me!! I would guess that it has been like that somewhere between 6 and 10 months, but could even be longer.

In my case, this was a massive warning sign as my mass is right behind my right nipple, and that mass is what is pulling it in. Had I not had other issues to ask the doctor about, I don't know how long I would have left it. I knew I was due for a physical anyway, but I am HEALTHY! Covid happened. And there are a million other totally pointless excuses out there.

Do you agree that life throws us messages? Messages that we often ignore? Strange part of the story, I actually saw this post shared by the lovely Nicole Lacroix of Wild Rose Health and Wellness on THE DAY OF MY MAMMOGRAM. If that isn't a sign, I don't know what is. Nicole is my lovely massage therapist, and I don't think I have thanked you for this post, Nicole, so I hope you see this ;)

It was kind of a kick in the pants. One of those things that make you go hmmmmmm.......

Ladies, please pay attention. Please ask questions. Please think of your own body. Please know your lemons!!

I have had multitudes of friends and loved ones ask if there is anything they can do for me. Yes, Yes, Yes, there is!! For all my female friends, go see your doctor. Go book your mammogram. Please send me a message, send me a text, or comment in the comment section here your upcoming appointment date, or when you last had one. PLEASE!! If I can ask one little thing, Please do this this for me!! I want 100 messages/text/comments. I want them all! Even if you are healthy, even if you don't have any lemons like below. Even if 'it can't happen to you'. Please. I beg you!!!

Peace and love

Barb

  1. Thanks for sharing this, Barb. I think I'm due for a boob squish, so I'm going to call my doctor's office to schedule. LYMI

  3. This is so important. So many think it is just a lump they needs to look for. I had no lump or inverted nipple. I just felt something wasn't 'right' and it wasn't. We need to all listen to our bodies ❤
